Dinner Dilemma
“What about dinner” I ask
And you stare at me blank
Look through me
As if I’m made of glass
So I wait an hour
And repeat the question, Luck
Has it, you give me a look
To say “don’t give a duck”
Yet late at night
When hunger begins to gnaw and tug
I wake, to make you instant noodles
Not grandly gloating, but smug
As I measure out water for the pan,
I realize at the end of the day
I won the battle but lost the war
And you still have it your way.
And you stare at me blank
Look through me
As if I’m made of glass
So I wait an hour
And repeat the question, Luck
Has it, you give me a look
To say “don’t give a duck”
Yet late at night
When hunger begins to gnaw and tug
I wake, to make you instant noodles
Not grandly gloating, but smug
As I measure out water for the pan,
I realize at the end of the day
I won the battle but lost the war
And you still have it your way.

Not so poetic... but could be effective. Although...

Fix me a burger - it really ain't hard.
