The Glass Heart

This Glass Heart once rang true
This crystal chimer had a lighter hue
Now the cracks from so many breaks
Its sonorous joyful timbre takes

Is it near its very end?
This once transparent, musical friend
So many times has it been glued,
Back together. Its melody subdued

The fragments are now very small
Fainter than the pin head’s fall
It’s sides like sand slowly filter out
The love and passion it held devout

It is whole but only just
Kindness and tenderness are a must
For it to survive the arduous way
Of life’s intensity seeking, heaving way.
